Justice Society of America - 1992

A really fun series, with outstanding art by the late Mike Parobeck. I wish this series had lasted a lot longer than it did.

Great, great series. One of only three pages of original art that I own that doesn't feature Aquaman or one of his supporting cast or rogues is from this series. It's the scene where Kiku the last Badhnesian (sp) inadvertantly says "Cei U" for the first time.

I bought it at I-Con, a Sci-Fi, Fantasy, RPG, and Comics convention that takes place on Long Island around Easter every year. The dealer had a bunch of Parobeck pages from this series and I was torn between buying the Kiku page or a great page showing Dr. Mid-Nite in full "stealthy Batman-type" mode. Ultimately i went with the Kiku piece 'cause I loved Parobeck's redesign of the Thunderbolt.

I'm really dissapointed that this series has been largely ignored by later writers. Grant Morrison's run on JLA was quite good but why did we need JJ when we already had Kiku?

I was a big fan of this series. I heard it actually sold quite well, but was canceled because it made DC look "old".
