Recognize most of these characters but not the titles? That's because these are house ads from an Australian comic, called Wonder Comics, that featured an amalgam of DC characters.

I would love to know why some American titles made it over to other countries, and others were created especially for those markets.

And I'm intrigued by the title Bumper Western Comic.

Coming...Super-Attractions! - 1962

sg
"Hey, that'd be a great name for a blog!"--me, a year ago today

Since today this is Coming Super Attractions! 1st anniversary, I thought we'd post a couple of ads from the different decades--1950, 1970, and 1980:

Starting tomorrow, as a way to kick off our 2nd year, we'll be posting two ads per day--as DC might say, For Double The Excitement!

Hot Wheels - 1970

Since this series featured stories and covers by Alex Toth--Alex Toth--isn't it about time for a trade paperback collection?

Binky's Buddies / Scooter - 1970

sg
I found this ad in an old issue of The Phantom Stranger. I wonder--was there any crossover audience between these books and PS?

Oh, and I guess one could suggest the Binky cover has some sort of sexual subtext. But as Sigmund Freud once said: "A water hose joke is sometimes just a water hose joke."

Astonishing Tales - 1970

sg
Bonus Post!

This as was sent to me by Robby Reed of
Dial "B" For Blog. And even though this has always been a DC Comics Ad Blog, the ad is certainly cool enough to post, plus I just appreciate Robby taking the time to send it to me.

Also, as you can see, I decided to spiff up the blog a little--new header, a new poll, etc. Hope you all like it!
