I remember seeing this for the first time and thinking "Holy crap, it's Adam West and he's a bad@$$!!!"

To me, this is Miller's best Batman work. And Mazzuchelli made such an impact in only 4 issues.

Great time to be a Batman fan.

My standard line is: Batman: Year One is a very good Batman story. But it's a @#$%ing phenomenal Commissioner Gordon tale.

Seriously, if your not a fan of Gordon after this story ...

It's utter misogyny at its heart, though. Check Catwoman reduced to hooker.

But Frank Miller's comics generally indicate he loathes women or else is afraid of them.
