I loved Warlord, even though it was a rip-off of Edgar Rice Burroughs's Pellucidar stories. The early issues were particularly good when Mike Grell was doing both pencils and inks. Once the book went monthly, they brought in Vince Colletta to ink it and...well, need I say more. Goodbye to backgrounds! Who cares if a character is missing some fingers! Still a fun, non-superhero book.
I didn't know Warlord from Odd Man back then, but man...that ad scared the crap out of me! I was such a weiner.
The sad part about Vince Colletta, he COULD do good work, he just chose quantity over quality.
