Cary Bates...the comic creator most obsessed with inserting himself in comics actually made it into this ad too, (and on the cover!).

That drawing of Batman had a profound effect on me as a kid. It seemed so 'real' as compared with the more cartoony style of the likes of Kirby, Ditko, Heck, et al. It started me on the road to wanting to be an artist.
