Seven Soldiers of Victory - 1974

sg
I'm cheating a little here--this isn't a real "ad", more of a blurb at the end of an issue of Adventure Comics. Its just that I really love The Seven Soldiers of Victory.

"Cheat" or not, I'll take something cool like this over a cover reproduction any day!

I've heard of this issue, but I've never seen it. I'd love to check it out. Did Grell do the GA segment? My only gripe is Shining Knight looks a bit like Bulletman there, with his over-sized helmet-top.

Just noticed: Is it just me, or is the Star-Spangled Kid totally apeing Steranko's classic Captain America pose?

This series ran in the back of Adventure Comics after Aquaman's brief time in that slot(Adventure 435-437).

The SSofV story ran from Adventure 438 thru 443 with each chapter focusing on a different member or duo in the case of GA and Speedy and the Star-spangled Kid and Stripsey.

I wish this would be reprinted somewhere because I only have Adventure from #441 on so i've never read the first 3 chapters!

And, from what I gather at Mike's amazing World of DC Comics, the great Lee Elias pencilled the GA and Speedy segment while Grell did the Shining Knight chapter.

Anyone unfamiliar with Mr. Elias' work should definitely check out the Showcase Presents Green Arrow volume. Sure, the stories are repetitive but the art is sweeeet!
