Robotman didn't stay like that long, did he? I don't think anyone was too crazy about that design change. I think I first noticed this ad after I got one of Zee Toys "Metal Men" figures (not to be confused with the DC characters). I thought Robotman was the same guy!
I loved the relaunch of both Showcase and the Doom Patrol. I only ever had 1 issue of the original DP - #123, a reprint of an earlier issue - but I thought they were so cool. And Staton is one of my absolute favs so (warning: heresy on the horizon) I actually kind of liked Robotman's Rog 2000 look.
This was also around the time that DC had that DC Hotline thing. I called a number of times hoping that they would update info on the Doom Patrol comic. I'm not really sure what I expected to hear - maybe the inside scoop on future plotlines or something. Wonder what my folks' phone bill was that month ...
