I always found it odd that when Kirby got mad at Marvel and left, he would go to DC and start work on....Jimmy Olsen???? I know, I know, he wanted a place to start his New Gods stories, but still, you'd think DC would have treated him a bit better. :-)

I think I read where DC asked him to pick up a failing title in exchange for allowing him to launch a whole new book. Picking Jimmy gave Kirby access to Superman! Now if they would have just printed his drawings intact...

I love the Transylvane storyline. Those guys need to come back!

The story I read was that DC wanted Jack to take one of their bigger titles, but Jack didn't want to put any other artist out of a job. Since the current artist (Pete Costanza, I think?) was leaving JO anyway, Jack asked for that book specifically.
